Summary:

This position is responsible to respond to trouble tickets, order requests and end user requests for PC issues, network latency and outages, and telephony and video support. Utilizes software and hardware tools, identifies, and diagnoses routine to moderately complex problems and factors affecting network performance. Works as a leader for outsourced support services, coordinating their efforts, keeping tabs on open service tickets and communicates status to affected staff as needed. Manages the inventory of phones, printers, PC's / laptops and associated equipment. Manages projects to add wireless access points, add IP cameras and manage alarm system vendors. Will send and receive hardware frequently and manage old equipment that is ready to be recycled. Serves as Subject Matter Expert for servers and networking equipment. Strong knowledge regarding firewalls, content filtering, VPN tunnels. Follows established procedures for supporting business service applications, routers, switches, servers, IP cameras, wireless access points, circuits and other network and computer hardware infrastructure. Applies technical skills and procedures appropriate for the position. Assist with other duties assigned and directed by IT Operations Manager within the framework of Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company, Inc.'s objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Install unified communication applications; internal/external servers, network hardware, and related infrastructure. Maintains the hardware and software that comprises the network, including the deployment, maintenance and monitoring of active network equipment, switches, routers, firewalls, and appliances.
  • Manage ISG who is the principal partner for day-to-day tasks like setting up new laptops, configuring printers and who respond to issues. As a task leader, takes responsibility to ensure ISG is not letting things take too long, and to not let tasks fall through the cracks.
  • Assist Associate Engineers, third party contractors and peers on unified communications, server management, network maintenance and ensuring the best practices are followed and that technical issues are resolved.
  • Experience with Meraki will be a plus, but knowledge of switches, firewalls, wireless access points and cameras will be needed.
  • Good communication with stakeholders which will include vendors, business partners, co-workers, management regarding the status of projects, tickets and other matters using good grammar and a vocabulary appropriate for the audience.
  • Inventory management of phones, PC's, laptops, printers, docking stations, monitors and associated equipment, frequently receiving, shipping and tracking current device inventory.

Special Qualifications/Certifications:

  • Advanced level Cisco or other industry communications certifications (CCNA Voice, CCNP Voice, or CCIE Voice, etc.) as well as Network certifications A+, N+, S +, etc. (preferred).

Education/Work Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED (required)
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred)
  • Eight (8) years of Technology work experience may substitute in lieu of degree.
  • A combination of an advanced level Cisco certification such as CCNA Voice or higher and four (4) years of Telephony experience may substitute in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.

Experience:

  • Experience working with voice/data service carriers to identify and resolve voice related signaling
  • Server management, including best practices for DNS, DHCP. Knowledge of SQL, Exchange PowerBI and other Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and network and wireless protocols, tools, and concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, UDP, DNS, OSPF, 802.11b/g/n/ac/ax, etc.)
  • Experience documenting system architecture and design using a variety of tools such as Microsoft Visio, etc.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Able to work overtime, including evenings and/or weekends. Able to stand for an extensive amount of time. Able to lift to 50 lbs. Able to travel, as much as 15%.
