Senior Quality Technician

Direct Hire

$41,600.00 - $49,920.00 yearly DOE

The Senior Quality Technician assists Quality and Production in controlling processes through training, problem solving, and part inspection to improve quality within company standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Functions:

Assure conformance of product in specific Value Stream with emphasis on prevention versus detection. Supports new products/processes and assists with PECTs & Rev Change Checklists.
Assist with performing PPAP, through performing FAIs, developing Control Plans, FMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, etc.
Compile and analyze data for Cap Studies, Gage R&R, etc.
Assemble Job package books used for production. Maintain accurate and complete quality files.
Support with instructing Machine Operators on blueprint interpretation, correct gauging techniques, use of SPC, inspection processes, process sheets, and two pan system. Configure SPC using SPC software.
Interface closely with key personnel from Production, Quality, and Engineering as well as customer Quality or Production Departments on quality-related issues as directed. May travel to customer site(s) to lead sort assignments as needed.
Make decisions on quality related items based on customers guidelines and ISO standards as appropriate.
Develop and maintain gauging requirements for all new and existing parts.
Prepare and conduct training in Quality Control operations procedures. Support with MRB and Corrective Action investigation and completion. May utilize customer/vendor portals to complete corrective action steps.

Additional Responsibilities:

Support in-process or final auditing training with department auditors to assure expected quality results are adhered to on the production floor.
Audit parts returning from outside operations.Approve movement to next operation or quarantine as appropriate.
May prepare formal Inspection/Sort instructions for sort operations as needed.
Participate in quality improvements and cost reductions.
Assist Engineering with metric conversion and pre-plate developments for new or revised products.
Housekeeping: maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner.
Perform all safety inspections to equipment daily (such as pallet jacks) and use proper lifting techniques as required.
Follow company policies, procedures and safety rules as described in the Employee Handbook.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills and ability:

The ability to read and write English and perform basic math skills with a basic understanding of machining process.
Ability to read and understand & interpret Blue Prints, Inspection Plans and follow instructions.
Ability to organize, prioritize with changing requirements; strong attention to detail and ability to work well with others.
Ability to use, interpret and train others to properly use gauges including micrometers & calipers, comparators & special gauges.

Education, Training and Experience:

Associates Degree, Technical degree preferred
Formal Metrology or on the job training
1-3 years Manufacturing Experience, preferably in Quality
