Kforce's client, a growing Engineering Technology Company in Phoenix, AZ that designs and manufactures electro-mechanical and electronic security products, is seeking a Senior Electronic Engineering Technician. We are working directly with the Hiring Manager on this exclusive search assignment. Within a R&D environment, the Electronics Technician is responsible for leading and coordinating electronic assembly functions by developing assembly instructions for products and processes, identifying, and solving production problems, training personnel, and building and conducting prototype production runs. Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Electronic Technician will assist Design Engineering with part selection and prototype construction
  • Perform engineering projects such as wiring, documentation, assembly, and testing of in-house equipment in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing of production orders and customer-returned products in a timely and complete manner
  • Perform and document sustaining engineering changes and disseminate the information to the appropriate departments and personnel
  • Write first draft of product manuals and provide technical editing for brochures and advertisements in accepted format
  • Assist Purchasing and Manufacturing Department personnel in locating and buying electronic components, general parts, tools, and assembling boards
  • The Senior Electronic Technician will work with vendors to document errors and prevent their reoccurrence
  • Train Electronic Assemblers
  • Test new releases of software, firmware, and hardware

Job Requirements:


  • ASEET or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior electronic technician
  • Must have experience in an R&D environment
  • SMT soldering skills and cobbler/prototyping ability
  • Experience with fabricating and soldering SMT parts
  • Experience building circuit boards and trouble shooting at the component level
  • Must have a thorough comprehension of electronic circuit design including electronic schematics and drawings
  • Must have experience building prototypes
  • Experience not only putting down any electronic component, but also has good common sense and mechanical aptitude when it comes to cobbling electronics such as Sky wiring, epoxying things down, taking removing conformal codes, picking epoxy off things, etc.
  • Must be able to perform component level diagnostics
  • Knowledge of assembly processes, electronic methods, and improvements of commercial electro-mechanical devices
  • Ability to read board developmental circuits, as provided to them by design engineers, and comprehends their operation for debug purposes
  • Ability to train and assist others including customers, in the use and repair of both hardware and software components of electronic devices which are monitored and controlled by PC application software
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities
  • Knowledge of project management techniques
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products and familiarity with CAD systems
