JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY

-- Essential Functions/Duties An Engineer V serves as a principal investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration, and sustainment projects. This position requires the following abilities which are usually performed within a lab but also in the field:
• Troubleshoot all types of radar and RF component and system level issues.
• Maintain, overhaul, and modify radar and RF system components and associated equipment.
• Design radar and microwave transmitting and receiving systems from stringent requirements.
• Research and select high power radar components based upon specified requirements.
• Write requirements documents, theories of operation, operations manuals, etc.
• Conduct individual radar and RF component tests and system level testing in a lab and on installed systems to verify vendor specification compliance and system performance.
• Prototype systems to determine design feasibility.
• Integrate COTS and specially designed radar hardware into a large scale system.
• Apply sound system engineering principles.
• Proficiency with HFSS, TICRA/GRASP, and/or other tools is desired. Employee will be responsible for performing the following functions/duties:
• Develop and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and difficult system design requirements and problems.
• Conduct investigations of considerable complexity.
• Provide technical consultation to other organizations or customers.
• Direct interface with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design.
• Act as liaison for test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
• Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects requiring the expert application of advanced knowledge.
• Review completion and implementation of systems additions and/or enhancements and recommend corrections in technical application and analysis to management.
• Represent the company as technical advisor in high-level meetings and briefings with company and customer personnel.
• Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
• Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
• Act as a company/industry expert resource on the most complex engineering problems.
• Maintain technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advise management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction of project operations.
• Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
• Develop, interpret, and implement technical and administrative operating policies and procedures.
• Perform other job-related duties, as required. Working Conditions Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Travel to remote company work locations may be required. Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience Note: Candidates may be considered for levels II - V Engineer V: A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum of 8 years of related engineering experience are required for this position. In addition, an Engineer V must possess the following qualifications:
• Well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the company
• Demonstrated ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
• Superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals
• Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines. Engineer IV: A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 8 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 6 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum 4 years of related engineering experience are required for this position. In addition, an Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:
• Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
• Well-developed leadership skills
• Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad prospective
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines Engineer III: A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 4 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 2 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering are required for this position. In addition, an Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:
• Mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable the employee to serve as a technical authority on projects relating to the specific programs
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
• Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines Engineer II: A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 2 years of related engineering experience or an accredited Master of Science in engineering are required for this position. In addition, an Engineer II must possess the following qualifications:
• Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles
• Familiarity with related engineering fields
• Practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
