The Project Manager is the manager of the construction project(s) and is charged with producing quality workmanship that is on schedule and on budget. The Project Manager is experienced and knowledgeable in all phases of construction and has the ability to orchestrate labor, materials and subcontractors that are crucial to the success of the project(s).

Position Qualifications, Skills And Knowledge

  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent, projects or assignments with the help of the Merrick team.
  • Extremely knowledgeable in high-end finish carpentry; details make the difference.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and take notes. "All in my head" types should not apply.
  • Weekly and monthly planning a must.
  • Proficient in scheduling, budget management and task management.
  • Follow through with tasks to completion.
  • Ability to hold people responsible when necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Calm outward appearance.

Education, Experience, And Training

  • Minimum 10 years of experience of hands-on carpentry work
  • Project Management courses are a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Manager
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook a plus

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure projects are completed on-time and within budgets
  • Supervise onsite personnel and subcontractors
  • Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers and clients
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Provide daily management of active construction projects
  • Schedule material, labor and subcontractors to meet or exceed schedule and budget expectations
  • Conduct weekly site meetings
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Review shop drawings and product submittals for accuracy and coordination between trades
