Career Opportunity:

The Project Engineer, Manufacturing Excellence will work on capital project planning and execution. Projects can include evaluation, installation, and commissioning of new equipment, rearranging/relocating equipment to improve manufacturing performance, and developing new technology to retrofit existing assets to improve performance and/or machine capability. This requires the ability to evaluate and see new ideas that do not yet exist and build plans to deploy these ideas into the division.

This position is responsible for managing capital projects between $1MM and $15MM. This requires general business knowledge to plan, organize, and control resources, procedures, and timing for critical business projects including organizing project teams, assigning individual responsibilities, developing project schedules, developing plant general arrangements, and determining resource requirements. Monitoring and reporting on the status of projects including cost, timing, and staffing. Identifying/resolving risks to completing project on time and to budget. May include coordinating multiple, interrelated projects. Projects will likely include integrating vendor tasks into the project plan and tracking and reviewing vendor deliverables.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Identify key deliverables, maintaining in scope items, scope changes and documentation; develop comprehensive project plan including risk mitigation and communication plan
  • Create drafts that provide layout details and the necessary information, such as timelines and budgets, for the project.
  • Run the necessary calculations regarding the dimensions and component specifications for each project.
  • Identifying resource requirements and create / work with existing project team members, including key stakeholder identification
  • Create project timeline and regularly publish updates
  • Align with project sponsor(s) and stakeholders including key commercial leadership
  • Team performance through objectives, milestones, evaluation criteria, and progress tracking
  • Attend and organize regular team calls, ensuring clear agenda, action items (including accountability), and published notes
  • Manage the project using a variety of tools to ensure project activities, dates, timing, and tracking are clearly understood by all project members and stakeholders (and delivered).
  • Assist plants on capital requests, approval and spend management, forecast of remaining spend on monthly basis.
  • Work with strategic partners/suppliers, Invoice management/vendor payment, terms and conditions for contracting
  • Build production models to determine expected performance improvements of projects

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Engineering degree; BSIE preferred
  • 2 or more years' experience with AutoCAD or equivalent to create and edit drawings accurate to real scale.
  • Ability to create and edit MS Office files including XL and Word
  • Ability to influence, lead and facilitate complex, cross functional teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate with and present to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and dynamic priority changes
  • Strong technical competencies
  • Must be extremely organized, ideally with an understanding how to use core project management fundamentals and tools - knowledge of MS Project preferred
  • Ability to manage complex and high levels of detail
  • Ideal, however not essential project management certified (PMP or equivalent)
  • Must be a team player, with excellent interpersonal and strong cross-cultural skills.
  • Results-oriented and innovative, with a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80%
  • Flexible and adaptable to work via different time zones as needed
