The Project Architect (PA) is responsible for the development and production of architectural projects from schematic design through project completion. They report directly to the Project Manager or Sr. PA. They may act as the main contact between the studio and the project's consultants and contractors and are responsible for production of contract documents and other deliverables for their team's projects. They work with other members of the technical team to properly execute all deliverables with an emphasis on quality control and consistency with the client's project budget as well as established design intent.
The PA reviews and reports on project progress and potential issues, and receives feedback from the Sr. PA, PM, or Principal-in-Charge on the work performed. They work with other team members to execute necessary revisions, helping the Sr. PA or PM ensure that work is completed on schedule and within fee constraints defined in the design services contract.
The Project Architect communicates well to build quick rapport with team, clients, consultants, and vendors. They efficiently identify and solve problems. They have building code knowledge and a general understanding of the required interactions with local authorities having jurisdiction.
Responsibilities: - Coordinate with Project Managers, Principal-in-Charge, and Design Director at project onset to clearly understand project goals for all design phases - Assist PM, Sr. PA, and clients with analysis and evaluations of development options for new and existing facilities - Play an integral role in client presentations, including oversight of the preparation of materials, attending and/or leading presentations, and ensuring client feedback is well documented - Collaborate with Graphic Designer(s)- where applicable- to ensure branding design adheres to client vision and integrates seamlessly with interior architecture - Work with Sr. PA or PM to storyboard construction documentation set at documentation kick-off - Primary responsibility to execute construction documentation, ensuring overall progress is on time, including a strong emphasis on knowledge of and ability to implement detailing for a variety of construction types, creation of technical specifications/detailing, code research, & adherence to company standards - Perform initial quality control reviews of drawings and specifications prior to Sr. PA or PM drawing review - Complete construction administration tasks, including addendums/bulletins, submittals reviews, and RFIs - Assist in managing workload through the entire project including effective communication with outside consultants and internal teammates to ensure all deliverables at each stage of the design process are fully coordinated - Be an active and collaborative team member, including participation in activities and internal charrettes focused on maintaining and expanding the firm's production and quality control.
