Position Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer for this role will provide guidance in design, development, optimization, and problem solving of Tissue Manufacturing, Converting/Packaging, and Mill Utility equipment. Candidates must have expertise across multiple technologies and will have a demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a broad range of team members. The incumbent reports to an Asset Leader and receives direction in the form of broad and specific project objectives and daily accountability meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe and effective manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies, and guidelines. Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel.
  • Lead various engineering projects with a financial scope of up to $5 million from conception through commercialization.
  • Provide functional guidance in the design, development, and optimization of tissue converting and manufacturing equipment and processes to meet unit objective.
  • Develop knowledge and skills in application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
  • Seek, recognize, define, and solve complex technical problems to root cause achieving unit objectives while collaborating and maintaining relationships with technicians, reliability team members, staff, and outside vendors/contractors.
  • Provide on-call and on-site support coverage occasionally/as needed.

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:

  • Believes in a zero-injury workplace
  • Able to apply Change Management techniques
  • Candidates must possess a bachelor s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university and 3 years experience in a variety of technical or operational assignments.
  • A collaborative leadership style that demonstrates ability to work independently or to lead a team to complete projects within required timeframes driving results
  • Trained in Lean Manufacturing technologies and/or capable of training others.

    • Mechanical Engineering Design
    • Process Equipment Communication, Architecture Control Systems, Software Design
    • Project Management and Execution Practices
    • Technical Documentation, Communication, and Report Writing
    • Total Asset Life Cycle Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge and background in Tissue Manufacturing & Converting/Packaging including a demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process and capacity improvements in major capital projects.
  • Up to 5 years of experience in a variety of plant and staff assignments, including maintenance and operations
  • Experience working with external technical service suppliers
  • Process Technologies: Merging Tissue-making Applications contributing to Converting Processes
  • Winding and Web Handling experience
  • OEM Equipment Design
  • Cross-discipline engineering design used for technical breadth
