Mechanic (Material Handling Equipment)

Commerce Distribution Center

Smart & Final is searching for an experienced Mechanic (Material Handling Equipment) for our Commerce Distribution Center, located at 5500 Sheila Street, Commerce, CA 90040.

The warehouse maintenance Mechanic performs routine maintenance on all distribution center equipment and some building maintenance.

Shift:

Candidates must be able to work overnight and weekend shifts. Shift starts at 8:30 pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned or required.

Perform all general repairs, overhaul, and rebuild critical Material Handling Equipment
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections.
Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions on all material handling equipment.
Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
Completes all necessary paperwork related to repairs, such as repair requisitions and safety checklists.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One to three years related experience and/or training with Crown, Yale and Barrett; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

COMPUTER/PC SKILLS
Basic PC skills and general knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must be able to operate hand tools, power tools and a welder according to operating and safety instructions.
Must provide own tools.
Able to work in a fast-moving and changing environment.
Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
Flexible to work any shift as needed.
