Repair and maintain a variety of pea, corn and meat processing equipment located within the plant.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the efficient flow of product through the assigned area and the major repair and maintenance of all machinery in the assigned area.

Train seasonal and/or full-time employees in the proper, safe, and efficient operation of the machinery to which they are assigned.

Supervise seasonal employees in their day-to-day duties.

Handle minor personnel problems. Refer major problems to the Supervisor.

In the off season, will be involved in any number of maintenance activities including machine/freezer repair/overhaul, cleaning, building walkways and work platforms, and assisting in the installation of new processing equipment.

Must possess a complete set of tools for industrial maintenance.

Must meet all minimum requirements of Factory Mechanic C. In addition, must have general knowledge of areas of Company's processing equipment, its operation and preventative maintenance and repair and ability to arc weld and oxygen and plastic cutting.

Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.

May perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Adhere to all Lakeside Foods policies and procedures.

Notify supervisor immediately if any unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions are discovered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge:
A two year certificate from college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
