The Company

The Company is the US arm of an established European renewable energy company with over 2,000 MW of wind, solar and storage projects in nine countries, including the United States. The Company is profitable, growing, and has no debt.

Background

The Company's engineering work is currently being performed by engineers in a sister company in Europe and by engineering consulting firms in the United States. With projects underway in the US, the Company is at an inflection point such that it is now time to build the Company's domestic engineering expertise. The Company seeks an experienced engineer to establish and lead the engineering function in the United States. The Company's initial focus in the United States is in Texas.

Typical responsibilities

We use the term "typical" here, as the Company is still small in the United States, and no two days are the same. The Engineer will be a versatile individual who will leverage a variety of skills and abilities as projects start and progress.

  • Coordinate and lead the completion of the engineering work on proposed and planned solar, wind and storage facilities through his or her own efforts and/or through leveraging:

+ Company engineers in Europe

+ Engineering firms in the United States

+ In-house engineers (to be hired)

  • Serve as a technical resource on engineering issues, interconnection matters and ERCOT / PUCT requirements and processes
  • Grow the engineering function in the United States by hiring and leading other engineers as the business grows
  • Liaise with group engineers in Europe
  • Capacity / congestion studies used for planning and siting facilities
  • Have primary responsibility for the scoping, execution, and management of ERCOT interconnection projects and the construction and operation of renewable energy generation and storage projects
  • EPC involvement and construction - function as Owner's Engineer

Preferred experience and qualifications

  • A Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas (or another state) preferred
  • Work experience in the power generation industry
  • Work experience with the interconnection of power facilities, preferably solar and/or wind, and storage
  • Previous experience with ERCOT interconnection projects
  • Knowledge of and past experience with ERCOT interconnection agreements and filings for solar, wind, and BESS interconnections with ERCOT and the Public Utilities Commission of Texas
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects, decision making, and working both within a group and independently
  • Experience with federal, state and local regulators
  • Self-directed, and also able to work in a team

Location

This will be a work-from-home position for the first twelve to eighteen months.

After that, a US office will be established in Austin. The Engineer will have input on the decision regarding the location of the office. The Engineer will be a key member of the leadership team of the office.
