The Challenge
Make it at the Park! Join the GE Appliances team in a central utility generating facility critical to our business core manufacturing infrastructure. We are looking to hire one (1) Industrial Maintenance Technician to support Boiler House Operations during 1st shift hours. It is an essential part of maintaining GE Appliances compressed air systems, steam generation during the colder months, campus-wide 24/7 fire protection services, continuous waste treatment processes, and more. This position is represented by the SEIU/NCFO.

What you ll do:
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve numerous chemical, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and steam generating equipment, processes, and systems.
Provide essential, daily upkeep of 1000hp air compressors, NG heated boilers, cooling towers, various types of pumps, gearboxes, and more equipment at multiple locations in different environments.
Work with electrical gear 2300VAC and below
Interact with operating personnel daily across three different shifts.
Familiarization of operating procedures for all equipment under the Boiler House area of responsibility.
Contact suppliers, vendors, and contractors in the execution of the above listed responsibilities.
Train and utilize predictive maintenance methods of thermography, vibration monitoring, lubrication analysis and more to track and forecast equipment issues or failure.
Follow safe work practices and procedures to avoid injury to self and others as well as to prevent property damage through EHS implemented programs including required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO), fall-protection, and more.
Understand and follow environmental guidelines under Stormwater protection, spill prevention, HAZMAT disposal and more in the planning and execution of daily activities and longer-term projects.
Follow proper housekeeping standards to ensure clean and organized designated maintenance work areas as well as those at temporary established jobsites.
Operate motorized equipment, including but not limited to scissor lifts, JLGs, fork trucks, etc.
Use a wide range of hand and power tools, cranes, hoists, and other specialized gear in the execution of your tasks.
What you need to Succeed
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma, GED or GED equivalent and
Certified Journeyman with 3 or more years of experience in one of the following trades: Electrical or Mechanical, OR
Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical or Mechanical field with at least 5 years of current hands-on working experience
Must be able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, drawings, and prints
Proven ability to work with these factors:
Perform work in a loud/noisy environment
Work with parts/equipment which may be hot, cold, and/or wet
Work outside in all weather conditions and work at heights
Use a wide range of powered tools and hand tools and vibratory tools/equipment
Perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation, including, but not limited to:
Prolonged standing, frequently handling various parts for assembly, frequent walking, reaching at waist level, pushing/pulling, grasping/squeezing, pinching
Have fine motor dexterity, neck flexion, and be able to use air tools
Be able to reach overhead, reach at shoulder, knee, and floor level
Bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, crawling, ladder/stair climbing, pivoting, twisting, neck extension/rotation, shoulder circumduction, lying supine and using vibratory tools also required
Handling and lifting of parts and/or equipment (lifting minimum of 86 lbs., carrying 62 lbs., and pushing/pulling, 75 lbs. required)
Available to work planned OT and short-notice emergency call-ins including weekends and holidays, when necessary.
Ability to work alone or in a collaborative setting
Preferred Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
HVAC in an industrial environment with up-to-date refrigerant recovery card
Compressed air systems including refrigerated air dryers.
Brazing, soldering, and welding
PLC programming and control system troubleshooting
Heavy-Duty (HD) engine repair and maintenance
Utilization of 5S principles for housekeeping, orderliness, and cleanliness
Total Predictive Maintenance (TPM) program familiarity
Familiarity with operator duties and responsibilities
Online work order entry and tracking system utilization
Parts ordering
Machining
