JOB OVERVIEW

  • Responsible for the uninterrupted operations of the utilities in the manufacturing plant and office facility. This includes but not limits itself to installation, repair, upgrade, troubleshooting and product recommendation, of Steam Generation, Compressed Air, Water Treatment, Chilled Water and Refrigeration systems
  • Partner with the plant, facilities and production management staffs as well the maintenance department. Reports food safety and quality problems to Plant Management to initiate action.
  • Requires work at all levels and positions, overhead, below ground etc. In different environments; inside, outside on the roof, in small or controlled areas, use of ladders, manlifts, forklift and other hand and powered equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain proper steam pressures, within specs, performing daily water treatment test, and water quality.
  2. Maintain proper Compressed Air levels throughout facility, including basic equipment service and associated piping and devices.
  3. Maintain and monitor the Water Treatment room, for proper function and disposal of process fluids.
  4. Monitor and service Chilled water system, including cooling tower maintenance, pump service and all equipment attached to the system.
  5. Install, service and repair heating and air conditioning systems.
  6. Service Curing room utilities, including control valves, monthly filter PMs, cooling circuit repairs and maintenance inclusive to coil cleaning and replacement.
  7. Obtain and maintain all required certificates and ensure that systems are up to code.
  8. Report food safety and quality issues to Plant management and SQFP
  9. Follow PIM Brands GMP rules
  10. Monitor fellow employees for adherence to GMPs.
  11. Comply with all applicable standards, policies and procedures dealing with safety and clean workplace requirements.
  12. Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions.
  13. Recommend, develop and perform preventive and general maintenance procedures such as cleaning, power washing and vacuuming equipment, lubrication and filter change.
  14. Repair or replace defective equipment, components and wiring.
  15. Test electric circuits and components for continuity, using testing equipment.
  16. Test equipment after repairs.
  17. Follow up with requester to isolate problems or to verify that problems have been corrected.
  18. Record and report all faults, deficiencies and other unusual occurrences as well as time and materials consumed on work orders.
  19. Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks using gauge or soap and water solutions.
  20. Maintain and Adjust system controls to settings recommended by manufacturer specifications.
  21. Lay out and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment.
  22. Install auxiliary components to heating/cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues and stokers according to blueprints and/or verbal instructions.
  23. Install, connect and adjust thermostats, humidistats and timers.
  24. Generate work orders that address deficiencies in need of correction.
  25. Join pipes or tubing to equipment and to fuel, water or refrigerant source to form circuit.
  26. Assemble, position and mount heating or cooling equipment.
  27. Study blueprints, design specifications and manufacturer's recommendations to ascertain the configuration of equipment and components to ensure proper function.
  28. Cut and drill holes in floors, roof and walls for installation in accord with GMP and PIM standards.
  29. Wrap pipes in insulation.
  30. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe or tubing.
  31. Fabricate, assemble and install duct work and chassis parts using portable metal-working tools and welding equipment.
  32. Ability to work additional hours and/or shifts as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling and crouching. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls. Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be evaluated and considered to enable an individual to perform the essential job functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job will generally be performed in the manufacturing plant. When on the plant floor it is representative of a large, busy manufacturing operation. Noisy, active, objects on the floor, constant movement and traffic flow of motorized equipment. Hair net, beard net, assigned work uniform, protective eye wear and gloves are among the GMP required apparel that must be worn, if indicated, on the plant floor.
