Field Service Technician - Northeast Territory

Applikon Biotechnology is a world leader in developing and supplying advanced bioreactor systems for the production of vaccines, antibodies, tissues, bio-pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and biosimilars in the Pharmaceutical industry, as well as enzymes, food, feed, bio-fuel, bio-chemicals and bio-plastics for Industrial Biotechnology. Applikon can guide a customer through the whole upstream process, from initial screening up to full-scale production, using the same platform.

Applikon Biotechnology, Inc., a part of Getinge, is hiring a Field Service Technician in the Northeast Territory. Qualified candidates will need to reside within the Boston, MA & surrounding areas, Nashua, NH, or Providence, RI. The territory includes CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, & ME.

The position reports to the Manager, North America Service, Applikon and is responsible for installing and servicing the entire Applikon Biotechnology portfolio of products to all potential customers in the territory.

Job Responsibilities

    • Determine the cause and repair of malfunctioning equipment send in for repair, and testing of the repaired, according to manufacturer's specifications
    • Respond and complete service visits
    • Able to research and develop solutions outside of company products, in regards to service work being performed.
    • Take care of service calls with customers, distributors and partners
    • Assist with the training and teaching of customers, distributors and partners in regards to the service work
    • Complete service reports based on in house repairs, maintenance contracts and service visits
    • Maintain a weekly report based on the work performed, and the diagnosed malfunctions and solutions on the repair on the equipment
    • maintain a weekly report on work still to be done and ongoing repairs
    • Provide assistance to the assembly of customer orders
    • Report back information gathered with contacts from customers, distributors and partners
    • Maintain and protect the distributed Service tools and materials
    • Assist in the planning of service related jobs
    • Take into account procedures, regulations, and safety in the work environment
    • Correctly perform the service work upon consultation with and agreement from the customer
    • Completely and correctly fill in relevant information in the service reports
    • Report quality issues and discrepancies back to the service manager in a written report
    • Correctly use ESD-safe equipment when available
    • Maintain contacts with customers, distributors and partners in regards to the service work being performed, within the regulations and procedures set forth by the service manager
    • Sell certain parts with a known selling price during service work
    • Provide after consultation with the customer, distributor and or partners to swap out a defective piece of equipment within the regulations and procedures set forth by the Service Manager

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a technician/ engineer, prefer experience in the field
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering a plus
  • Precise and independent
  • Good knowledge of the functions of the equipment being sold
  • Flexible
  • Driver's license
  • Travel around 75%
