Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries Fab8 is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shift Engineer to become a part of our 300mm factory in Malta, New York. This position will be located at GlobalFoundries in Malta, New York, and report to the FVX Maintenance and Operations Shift Manager with the primary responsibility of driving engineering decisions across the assigned shift. The Shift Engineering position is a Salaried shift position working a compressed week of 12-hour shifts. GlobalFoundries is a 24/7 manufacturing facility providing support across all shifts.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Work directly with equipment engineers and maintenance technicians to establish business processes to run and maintain the tools in production, as well as their documentation according to quality standards
  • Strong focus on keeping timelines and cost/budget control
  • Work in close collaboration with Process and Manufacturing teams to plan and prioritize work
  • Establishment of the equipment engineering and maintenance related business processes (SOPs, BKMs, JBIs) necessary to run and maintain the tools in production, as well as their documentation according to quality standards
  • Continue to improve robust process for high volume manufacturing using statistical tools, DOE techniques, data driven decision making and systematic problem-solving skills. Use lean manufacturing and six sigma processes.
  • Develop and train the equipment technicians. Create materials and perform training of technicians working on tools in the area
  • Ensure close interaction with equipment suppliers and work together on resolution of tool issues
  • Advanced troubleshooting of semiconductor process tool issues:
  • Trace data analysis using OEM's application and tool software
  • Trace data analysis using current FDC/E3
  • Able to read and understand tool schematics (electrical, PIDs, utilities diagrams, etc.)
  • Work with equipment technicians to monitor and drive equipment performance KPIs (Availability, Net MT%, PM Success). When needed adjust to fab goals
  • Participate in and support troubleshooting and task forces as needed. Develop solutions that prevent recurrence. Strong Electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skills

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline with less than 2 years of relevant experience
  • OR 5+ years of equivalent experience in Semiconductor equipment or process
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required clean room clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements
  • Able to work in a standing position for an extended period of time (during a 12-hour shift) Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (above 50lbs requires a two-person lift)
  • Flexible and willing to work any shift (3-4 days alternating weeks during day or night shift)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Semiconductor Equipment Engineering or Maintenance experience with a focus on TEL, Kokusai, Poongsan or ASM Vertical Batch Furnace tools.

  • A (days) Week 1: Sunday to Wednesday 6:00AM to 6:30PM, Week 2: Sunday to Tuesday 6:00AM to 6:30PM
  • B (nights) Week 1: Sunday to Tuesday 06:00PM to 06:30AM Week, 2: Sunday to Tuesday + Saturday 6:00PM to 6:30AM
  • C (days) Week1: Thursday to Saturday 06:00AM to 06:30PM, Week 2: Wednesday to Saturday 06:00AM to 06:30PM
  • D (nights) Week 1: Wednesday to Saturday 06:00PM to 06:30AM, Week 2: Wednesday to Friday 06:00PM to 06:30AM
