Purpose of Job As a Commercial Lines Specialist I, you will work within defined guidelines and frameworks, advising members on insurance and risk management, utilizing commercial insurance products to fit our member s needs. You will use knowledge of the commercial insurance marketplace, carrier appetite, and leverage underwriter relationships and knowledge of carrier contracts to place coverage for the business.

Work Schedule: 9:30am-6:00pm CST

Training Schedule: 8-10 weeks of training 8:00am-4:30pm CST

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.

  • Utilizes a consultative approach to determine customer needs, build rapport and provide solutions based on current products and service offerings.

  • Researches industry trends and evolving regulatory environment (state and national), improving understanding of important technical/financial issues.

  • Classifies member s business and provides accurate risk management and risk mitigation solutions, while leveraging knowledge of B2B sales cycles for success.

  • Follows up with underwriters on endorsements, classification questions, and underwriting determination (approval or declination) for multiple markets.

  • May work with underwriters on complex accounts across management lines and Excess and Surplus for renewals, endorsements, and remarketing.

  • Utilizes advanced understanding of compliance and insurance standards and Agency Management Systems to limit agency E&O exposure.

  • Manually rates products, based on member s risk profile and profitability.

  • Exercises technical knowledge necessary to communicate our solutions effectively.

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma OR General Equivalency Diploma required.

Minimum Experience:

  • 2 years of insurance sales and service experience and/or experience working in a commercial insurance agency or broker setting.

  • Valid Property and Casualty insurance license for home state and/or ability to obtain home state and multistate license within 90 days.

Preferred Experience:

  • Current USAA Agency experience.

  • 4+ years of commercial sales and service experience.

  • P&C General Lines License.

  • Direct to consumer experience.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The hiring range for this position is: $46,000.00 - $82,900.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
