We are currently looking for an outside plant expert for our OSP Construction Coordinator role. Is that you?
Being an OSP Construction Coordinator at PRG is a unique opportunity for the well-versed in outside plant telecommunications, bringing the best parts of the traditional job. Our OSP Coordinators are well-versed in external plant telecommunications. We run cable fiber and coax for both aerial and underground scenarios. Our people have a passion for the telecommunications industry, giving them several options for career growth in roles such as Project Manager, Construction Manager, and more.
Because of the growing demand for high-speed cable, we are searching for a teammate committed to working on a long-term project to bring our customer over the finish line. PRG has a top client in your area with a project that will allow you to spend your days in both the field and the office.
Key contributor to Webpass network construction efforts, including installation of new equipment, maintenance of existing equipment, and related tasks
Leverages network construction expertise to complete more complex challenges that may arise during construction (e.g. troubleshooting and repairing a fiber splice with mismatched strands, identifying and mitigating RF interference on a production link, etc.), in addition to completing basic network construction tasks
Exercises strong judgment and decision making, and tests/troubleshoots connections without guidance for both residential and commercial customers
Strong communication skills, both internally with colleagues and externally during customer interactions
A solid contributor to team culture; proactively identifies opportunities to work across the team on projects; identifies and proactively suggests changes to best practices to drive better outcomes; mentors and offers guidance to teammates
Proactively owns their professional development, including developing advanced installation skills and certifications (e.g., fiber splicing certifications)
May perform residential in-home customer installation work as needed
Participates in on-call rotations as needed; understands urgency and prioritization
3 - 5+ years of pulling, terminating, and testing twisted-pair copper cabling and fiber optics in residential and commercial environments.
3 - 5+ years of fiber splicing and/or network construction experience installing, repairing, and testing fiber and twisted-pair copper cabling cable.
Experience using fusion splicers and proficiency in splicing fiber.
Ability to terminate fiber optic cable utilizing a variety of connectors.
Extensive experience troubleshooting Ethernet network issues related to routers, switches, and hubs
Experience with rack and stack work, putting together server racks, Closet work, and Patch panels
Must have a valid driver's license.
Complete understanding of the physical layer with a basic understanding of the OSI model
Understanding of BICSI 1, 2, and Fiber 1, 2, 3
Exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
